Waiting: It can take a long time for an appeal to get processed through the bureucratic channels of the agency or department with which you are seeking employment. There are four bottlenecks in this process: 1) how long it takes the agency in question to send your psychological records to me, 2) how long it takes you to visit me once they are in my possession, 3) how long it takes you to provide me with the information I need to write your appeal document, and 4) how long it takes the agency in question to read over the finished rebuttal document in order to arrive at its final decision. Once I have your records in my possession, I can set up a face-to-face meeting within three days. If you supply me quickly with needed, pertinent information, I can have a written rebuttal in your hands within 7 to 10 days. After that it depends upon the agency's efficiency in reviewing the finished appeal document. In the case of NYPD, there is typically a VERY long lag between the time that records have been requested and their delivery to me (3-4 months)as well as a long time to for them to render a final decision (5-6 months). Again, be prepared to wait. Finally, I will call you ASAP when I receive any of your documents.
